Tamara Baptiste is an accomplished college admissions coach, speaker, author, engineer, and a STEMinist, who strives to increase the presence of women in science, technology, engineering, and math. An expert-level program manager and strategist, she leads multiple projects providing health policy, analytics services, and strategic advice and practices that promote efficiency, equity, and quality. Her leadership, ability to establish partnerships, and build bridges across business units and within the client community have resulted in the delivery of care to millions of citizens at the state and federal levels.

Combining her passions for STEM and mentoring, Tamara launched The College Application Specialist™, an education consulting company designed to guide students and parents through the college admissions process.  Driven by a desire to educate the community, she provides one-on-one and group coaching,  and workshops via partnerships with libraries and civic organizations, including Charles County Public Library, Prince George’s County Library, and other community organizations to bring college admissions advice to hundreds of parents and teens. To date, her students have gained admission to over 60 prestigious universities, including the Ivy League and Seven Sisters, with over $15M in merit aid, and institutional, and high-profile scholarships.

Tamara’s championing of expanding the STEM and opportunity pipeline included serving as the STEM Committee Co-Chair at The MITRE Corporation, volunteering as a community educator at the Children’s Science Center, joining the advisory board of Girls on the Run DC, serving as the 1st Vice-President of the Zonta Club of Washington DC, and the Sustainer Representative for the Junior League of Northern Virginia.  She continues to provide her expertise as a mentor, college coach, and entrepreneur as a member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women - Northern VA Chapter.

Tamara graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and began her career at Lockheed Martin as a Systems Engineer while simultaneously pursuing her Master of Engineering in Engineering Management from Cornell University.   She has a Certificate (With Distinction), in College Counseling and Higher Education from the University of California at Los Angeles and an Executive Certificate in Organizational Development Consulting and Change Leadership from Georgetown University. She is also a Certified Change Management Professional from ProSCI, a Project Management Professional (PMP) from Project Management Institute, a Certified SCRUM Master from the Scrum Alliance, and a Scaled Agile Framework Agilist from Scaled Agile, Inc. In addition, she is a member of the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA), the Potomac and Chesapeake Association for College Admission Counseling (PCACAC), and the National Association of College Admissions Counseling (NACAC).
